Party Wall Awards

If you are planning a building project involving work that might have an impact on a neighbouring property, or if a neighbour proposes such work that might impact on your property, then you will need to consider your rights and obligations under the Party Wall etc Act 1996. It is important that you understand the provisions of the Act and follow the necessary processes by taking advice at an early stage.

The Act provides a procedure whereby neighbours are notified and if there are concerns, Party Wall surveyors become involved. Either a surveyor is appointed by each party or a single “agreed surveyor” is appointed between parties.
